eyecandylab appoints Disney veteran to head its content division
With the increasing importance of AR enriched content, eyecandylab has appointed a former Director at the Walt Disney Company (NYSE: DIS) to head its Content Division. Kenneth Dancyger served almost 15 years at Disney in a variety of roles, most recently as a leader in content development for the kids interactive portfolio as Senior Manager in Digital Product Strategy at Disney Channel.
In his new role at eyecandylab, Dancyger will be leading the newly established Content Division. He is based out of Los Angeles, CA and will strengthen eyecandylab’s presence in the US.
“We are absolutely thrilled to have Ken join our team.” Robin Sho Moser, CEO of eyecandylab says. “His track record of strategic product development that brings interactivity to TV through second-screen experiences makes him a great fit for this role.” He continues: “At Disney, he has proven to be a visionary leader that brought significant engagement to the shows. Taking this to the next level with our augmented reality platform is the next step!”
Propelled by strong demand for educational content by eyecandylab’s customers, he will be working closely with content partners that develop outstanding, interactive AR content for OTT platforms. As the pandemic continues and streaming platforms look for unique customer experiences, edutainment becomes an important vertical.
“In the few short years since their founding, eyecandylab has positioned itself at the cutting edge of this constantly changing industry,” Dancyger says. “Under Robin’s visionary leadership, the company has revolutionized the way we think about video consumption and has forged a path of true innovation.”
While at Disney Channel, Dancyger was integral in bridging the network’s linear television broadcast with digital innovation, most notably spearheading the development of episodic second-screen experiences, a strategy which ultimately led to the launch of Disney Channel’s first live interactive TV show, QUIZney.
It is with that foundation that Dancyger intends to elevate eyecandylab’s technology toward the next level of AR content.
“I am beyond excited to join the team to integrate eyecandylab’s dynamic technology with fresh, compelling content to create unique interactive experiences that will engage and educate kids in a new and exciting way.”
In addition to being a champion of interactive television at Disney Channel, Dancyger worked on several other digital-first projects at the network, including the production of a 23-episode short-from video series in support of the popular Disney Channel franchise, Descendants, which was crucial to the development of the narrative between the first movie and its sequel. He also developed more than 20 HTML5 and Unity games and helped manage the launch of the loyalty program for the official Disney Channel app, DisneyNOW.
Prior to his stint at the kids network, Dancyger managed content strategy and development for Disney.com, which included the creation of exclusive animations, digital toys, and short-form live-action ancillary content.
